Is there a recurring problem, bottleneck, or unmet need in your part of Temple? Tell us about it. Student teams in the Temple AI Build Challenge will choose problems from this bank and spend ten days, from October 28 to November 6, building AI-powered prototypes that address them.<\/p>\n\n

Faculty, staff, students, university units, and community partners are all welcome to submit. You can submit more than one problem.<\/p>\n\n

Describe the need, not the solution.<\/p>\n

You don’t need to know how AI could help. Tell us what is difficult today and who it affects. The student teams will work out the rest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

What Makes a Good Problem<\/h2>\n\n

  • It is real and recurring.<\/strong> Someone at Temple deals with it regularly.<\/li>\n
  • It affects people you can name.<\/strong> Students, advisors, instructors, researchers, or staff in a specific office.<\/li>\n
  • Better tools could improve it.<\/strong> Think of information, automation, analysis, communication, or decision support.<\/li>\n
  • A team can prototype it in ten days.<\/strong> A focused problem works better than a broad one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Some examples are routine administrative tasks that take hours each week, students who struggle to find the right advising or support resource, course design and assessment work that could move faster, and research tasks such as literature reviews and data analysis.<\/p>\n\n

    • Campus Operations and Data.<\/strong> Administrative workflows, scheduling, communication, information retrieval, and service delivery.<\/li>\n
    • Research Acceleration.<\/strong> Literature and evidence synthesis, data analysis, research administration, and collaboration.<\/li>\n
    • Open \/ Wildcard.<\/strong> Any other need that supports Temple’s academic, research, civic, or community mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      What Happens Next<\/h2>\n\n

      1. The organizing committee reviews your submission and adds it to the Problem Bank.<\/li>\n
      2. Student teams choose their problems at the kickoff on October 28.<\/li>\n
      3. A team working on your problem may contact you with questions.<\/li>\n
      4. Teams present their prototypes at demo day on November 6. You are welcome to attend.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

        If your unit would consider testing or piloting a successful prototype, let us know in the form. IBIT supports the continued development of promising projects.<\/p>\n\n
