Faculty and staff are welcome to join student teams.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">Do I need coding experience?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">No. Today&#8217;s AI tools let you build working prototypes without writing code, and the kickoff tutorial shows you how. Teams mix people with different backgrounds, so your knowledge of a problem, design, research, or communication matters as much as technical skill.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">How do I register, and what is the deadline?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/temple-ai-build-challenge-registration\/\">registration form<\/a> by <strong>Monday, October 26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">How much time will it take?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">The challenge runs for ten days, from October 28 to November 6. Teams work part-time around their classes and set their own schedules. Plan to attend the kickoff, send two short checkups, and present on demo day.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">Can I participate remotely?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">You can join the kickoff on Zoom. Demo day is in person in Alter Hall, and at least one member of each team must present there.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">What if I can&#8217;t attend the kickoff?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Register anyway and select that option on the form. We aim for teams that mix different schools, majors, and skills.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<h2 style=\"color:#025d9d;margin:64px 0 12px;padding-bottom:8px;border-bottom:3px solid #025d9d\">Projects<\/h2>\n<details style=\"padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">How do we choose a problem?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Pick one from the <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/problem-bank\/\">Problem Bank<\/a> or propose your own. Either way, start with a real need and the people it affects. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/guidelines\/\">Guidelines &amp; Judging<\/a> page for the tracks.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">Which AI tools can we use?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Any tools you like. Your final deck must list every AI tool you used, which version, and for what purpose. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/ai-tools-and-resources\/\">AI Tools and Resources<\/a> page lists free options to get started.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">Where can we work, and what support is available?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">The Duckworth Scholars Studio in Charles Library is the work hub for the challenge, with workspace, study rooms, and a computing lab. See <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/resources\/\">Temple Library Resources<\/a>. Mentors also hold office hours throughout the build days.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">Who owns our project after the challenge?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Your team owns its work. If your project is selected for continued development with IBIT or a Temple unit, we will agree on next steps together, consistent with Temple policy.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<h2 style=\"color:#025d9d;margin:64px 0 12px;padding-bottom:8px;border-bottom:3px solid #025d9d\">Submission and Judging<\/h2>\n<details style=\"padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">What do we need to submit, and when?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">Two checkups during the build (October 31 and November 3), then your final slide deck by <strong>Friday, November 6, at 12:00 pm<\/strong>. No late submissions are accepted. The <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/guidelines\/\">Guidelines &amp; Judging<\/a> page lists the required slides.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">How long is the demo day presentation?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">About 5 to 7 minutes, followed by questions from the judges. The exact length depends on the number of teams.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details style=\"border-top:1px solid #e5e5e5;padding:14px 0\">\n<summary style=\"cursor:pointer;font-weight:700\">How are projects judged?<\/summary>\n<p style=\"margin:10px 0 0\">A panel of <a href=\"https:\/\/ibit.temple.edu\/aibuild\/judges\/\">judges<\/a> scores each presentation on seven criteria. The importance of the problem and the value to users carry the most weight. IBIT may also select promising projects, including ones outside the top three, for continued development on campus.
