Everything below is free to Temple students.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"1-spaces-to-work\">Spaces to work<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/lcdss\"><strong>Loretta C. Duckworth Scholars Studio<\/strong><\/a>, Charles Library, 3rd floor. <a href=\"mailto:digitalscholarship@temple.edu\">digitalscholarship@temple.edu<\/a> \u00b7 (215) 204-0752 \u00b7 services are open Monday\u2013Friday, 8:30\u20135:00, workspaces are available whenever library is open. The place to work during the build days, and staffed by people who can help. Tables and open work areas, breakout rooms, and <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/lcdss\/research\">staff who support this kind of work<\/a>: text analysis, GIS, data wrangling, machine learning, 3D, VR.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/study-rooms-small\"><strong>Small group study rooms<\/strong><\/a>, 3rd and 4th floors. Reserve online at <a href=\"https:\/\/charlesstudy.temple.edu\">charlesstudy.temple.edu<\/a>, up to 72 hours ahead, two one-hour blocks per person per day. Most have a flat screen you can connect to wirelessly; all have power outlets.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/large-group-study-rooms\"><strong>Large group study rooms<\/strong><\/a>, with a display screen and a dedicated computer. Reserve online, up to 48 hours ahead.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/presentation-practice-rooms\"><strong>Presentation practice rooms<\/strong><\/a> in the Studio (rooms 312 and 323, 6 and 10 people), for rehearsing a demo. Video conferencing and whiteboards. Book at least 24 hours ahead; open for general study when not booked.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/24-7-study-area\"><strong>24\/7 study area<\/strong><\/a>, 1st floor. Swipe in with a Temple ID after the library closes. Laptop and battery kiosks and a printer.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/chat\">librarian chat<\/a> for when you\u2019re stuck on sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"2-hardware\">Hardware<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Computing lab.<\/strong> The computing lab we have has 16 computers that are available for students to use anytime the library is open. Their specs are roughly i7 14700 CPUs and RTX 4070 GPUs, and they have 32GB of RAM. Here&#8217;s more info on our <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/computer-lab\">computing lab<\/a>. The lab is prioritized for work that needs the computing power or specialized software, so you may be asked to move if your task doesn\u2019t.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laptops.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/services\/borrow-a-laptop\">Borrow a laptop<\/a> for up to four hours from the kiosks in Charles Library and the TECH Center, with your OWLcard and AccessNet login.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Power.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/services\/charge-your-device\">Charging bricks<\/a> for laptops come from kiosks throughout Charles Library (bring your own power cable). Select desks on the 2nd and 3rd floors have battery-powered outlets; they won\u2019t power the largest laptops.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Borrowable equipment.<\/strong> From the equipment desk you can borrow VR headsets and game consoles (4-hour, in-library), plus cameras, 360 cameras, projectors, greenscreen and lighting, Arduino kits, Raspberry Pi, and tripods (7-day loans). Details: <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/services\/borrow-media-equipment\">media equipment<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>VR \/ Immersive Studio.<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/lcdss\/vr-studio\">VR \/ Immersive Studio<\/a>, sound-dampened, holds up to 10.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Makerspace.<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/lcdss\/makerspace\">Makerspace<\/a> has 3D printers, laser cutters, an electronics bench, and sewing machines, but it requires safety training first, so it isn\u2019t a same-day resource. Plan ahead if your project has a physical component.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"3-software\">Software<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lab workstations.<\/strong> The lab workstations have Blender, QGIS, R and RStudio, Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, and Fusion 360, plus Anaconda, Gephi, Visual Studio and more; the full list is on the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.temple.edu\/spaces\/computer-lab\">computing lab<\/a> page. Use them if your project needs them; otherwise work at a table. Typical uses: text analysis, geospatial work, network analysis, VR\/AR, CAD, 3D modeling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Help.<\/strong> Studio staff can set up a consultation on software or methods: <a href=\"mailto:digitalscholarship@temple.edu\">digitalscholarship@temple.edu<\/a>.
