24/7 study area
1st floor. After the library closes, swipe in with your Temple ID. There’s a laptop and battery kiosk and a printer.
Hardware
Computing lab
The computing lab we have has 16 computers that are available for students to use anytime the library is open. Their specs are roughly i7 14700 CPUs and RTX 4070 GPUs, and they have 32GB of RAM. The lab is for work that needs that power or its software, so you may be asked to move if your task doesn’t.
Laptops and charging
Borrow a laptop for up to four hours from the kiosks in Charles Library or the TECH Center. Charging bricks come from kiosks around Charles Library. Bring your own power cable.
Equipment to borrow
Ask at the Scholars Studio desk, Monday–Friday 8:30–5:00. VR headsets and game consoles are 4-hour loans for use in the library. Cameras, 360 cameras, projectors, greenscreen and lighting, Arduino kits, and Raspberry Pi are 7-day loans.
VR / Visualization Studio
A sound-dampened room for up to 10 people, open Monday–Friday until 5:00. Walk-ins are welcome.
Makerspace
3D printers, laser and vinyl cutters, electronics, and sewing equipment. Each machine needs a 15–30 minute training that you book in advance.
Software
The lab computers have Blender, QGIS, R and RStudio, Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, Fusion 360, Anaconda, Gephi, Visual Studio, and more. See the full list on the computing lab page.
