Dinesh Desai

Executive Chairman & Founder, Emtec, Inc.
Topic: Repositioning IT services for a digital future

Dinesh Desai is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Emtec, Inc. Emtec is an IT consultancy firm. Dinesh started his career in the Chemical Industry and worked for the Chemical Divisions of American Can and Atlantic Richfield Corp. He held various positions and managed several business units. Dinesh left the corporate environment to lead his first entrepreneurial venture. He and his partner built a division of a public company with $3 million in sales to one of the preeminent manufacturers of aircraft parts of over $170 million. After a successful exit, Dinesh focused on consolidating companies in the IT services market. He and his team have successfully acquired and transformed multiple firms into Emtec, which has grown from a low-margin reseller into a high-value services organization with over $200 million in revenue. Dinesh holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai, India and a Master of Science Degree in both Chemical and Industrial Engineering from Montana State University, and a Master in Business Administration from Temple University. Dinesh is also the founder and President of the Pardi Taluka Welfare Charitable Trust, which established the Swatantra Senani Bhagwanji Dahyabhai Desai (SSBDD) high school in his village Vatar in the State of Gujarat, India https://www.ssbddesaihighschool.org for the underprivileged children. The high school is named after his grandfather who was a freedom fighter against the British rule.
