Projects and Research

Faculty and student led projects offer firms world class talent to analyze and research critical digital transformation and related topics.

Research Projects

IBIT affiliated faculty and students across Temple University regularly work on applied research with IBIT corporate partners. These projects are analytical and strategic and focus on addressing an important problem for the partner organization. IBIT acts as a facilitator and project manager to match industry needs with academic research goals. Projects typically result in a publishable report. Projects that involve assessing, integrating, or developing innovative technologies are housed in the Digital Innovation Foundry.

Examples

  • Analyze social media use and effectiveness for a large electronics firm.
  • Review options to apply open innovation for product development for a large pharmaceutical firm.
  • Analyze and identify the metrics for assessing the business value of an emerging technology.

If you are interested in initiating a project, please contact us at IBIT@temple.edu or 215-204-5642.

Student Projects

Temple University students routinely work with industry on business technology projects. The projects range from analytical, developmental, evaluation, to strategic. IBIT acts as a facilitator and project manager to match industry needs with academic goals. Such projects are well defined and can be completed in the context and rhythm of an academic semester. Students perform best when they understand the reason behind the project, learn or experience a high-end technology as part of the project, and can see an end to the project, ideally leading to real value for the sponsoring organization.

Examples

  • Inventory and bid tracking system for a supply company. The system includes: product lists, customer histories, bidding records, with reports and inquiries.
  • An entrepreneurial new business web site that applies social media to rate and select food trucks.
  • Analyze a business problem and propose an information technology solution. Evaluate the effectiveness of a current systems/tools based on business and technical objectives.
  • Evaluate the opportunity presented by an emerging technology in specific industries.

If you are interested in initiating a project, please contact us at IBIT@temple.edu or 215-204-5642.
