Dinesh Desai - FOX IT AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI - 2014

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI

Mr. Desai has served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at Emtec since August 2005. From 1986 to August 2005, Mr. Desai was the Chairman and CEO of DARR Global Holdings, Inc., a management consulting firm. Since 2004, he has also served as Chairman on the Board of Directors of Emtec Federal, Inc. (formerly Westwood Computer Corporation).

Mr. Desai was a President, CEO, Co-Chairman and an owner of Western Sky Industries (“Western Sky”), a manufacturer of highly engineered, proprietary component parts used primarily in aerospace applications. Western Sky grew from approximately $3 million in revenues to over $170 million in revenues during the 1990’s prior to being sold to McKechnie P.L.C., in 1999.

Prior to 1986, Mr. Desai spent twelve years with American Can and Arco Chemical in various management positions, including marketing, manufacturing, finance, planning and research and development. Mr. Desai has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Enterprise Center, a Nonprofit Organization.

Mr. Desai holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India, and a Masters of Science Degree in both chemical and industrial engineering from Montana State University. He earned a Masters in Business Administration from Temple University in 1978.

Jeff Mango - FOX IT INNOVATOR AWARD - 2014

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR AWARD

Jeff Mango is Vice President of Total Customer Experience in a new marketing organization at Verizon. Previously he lead the customer and business intelligence organization (CBI) that was the first of its kind. Built from the ground up, CBI was designed to align company-wide strategies and initiatives for listening and understanding the Voice of the Customer and Voice of the Employee. Mango’s team leverages social/digital media insights across Verizon’s business units in order to enhance the overall end-to-end customer experience and increase operational efficiency. Targeted business information and solutions help drive improvement in customer experience and loyalty, which increases revenue and reduces operating costs. He is based out of Verizon’s Corporate Headquarters in Basking Ridge, N.J.

Mango began his career in the wireless industry as a retail sales representative and has held a variety of leadership positions in multiple regions. Prior to his move to Verizon’s corporate offices, Mango was President of the Georgia/Alabama Region for Verizon Wireless. He is a three-time winner of the Verizon Wireless President’s Cabinet for sales achievement.

Mango holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sales and Meeting Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island

Fifteenth Annual IT Awards

The Fifteenth Annual Fox IT Awards were held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 and featured the Fox IT leader Award for George Llado, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Alexion, the Fox IT Innovator Award for Jeff Mango, Vice President of Total Customer Experience, Verizon, and the Fox IT Award for Distinguished Alumni for Dinesh R. Desai, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Emtec Inc.

George Llado - Fox IT Leader Award - 2015

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEADER AWARD

George Llado is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Alexion, and is responsible for building the company’s Global Information Technology function, focusing on initiatives that enable Alexion to serve more patients around the world as it prepares to launch a number of new products and indications with anticipated approvals between 2015 and 2018.

Mr. Llado joined Alexion on January 1, 2015. Today, he and his global team develop and implement enterprise-level business applications and infrastructure, expand ERP implementation, manage information security, deliver new analytics tools, and design and deploy systems across Alexion’s R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing, and Quality functions.

Prior to joining Alexion, Mr. Llado served as Vice President, Information Technology for Merck’s manufacturing and supply chain organizations, where he led the planning and development of IT solutions for the company’s Manufacturing Division. Before that, Mr. Llado was Merck’s Vice President, Corporate IT and business line CIO for several functions. He also successfully managed the large-scale merger integration of Merck and Schering-Plough for the IT and Shared Business Services organizations. In addition, Mr. Llado has held several other positions of increasing responsibility at Merck, and previously worked at Citibank, N.A. earlier in his career.

Mr. Llado serves on the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Board and the Temple Fox IT Advisory Board. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from New York Institute of Technology.

Tech leaders Llado, Mango, and Desai honored at Fifteenth Annual Fox IT awards

Fox IT awards 2015

Temple University’s Fox School of Business honored three top technology leaders at its 15th annual Information Technology Awards on Tuesday, April 14.

Fox School’s nationally ranked Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) and the Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT) organize this premier event for Greater Philadelphia’s technology community. The honorees are:

  • George Llado, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Alexion, will receive the Fox IT Leader Award, for his leadership in the use and development of IT in business.
  • Jeff Mango, Vice President of Total Experience in Verizon’s marketing organization, will receive the Fox IT Innovator Award, for his innovation in applying technology and insights to create business opportunities.
  • Dinesh R. Desai, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at Emtec, will receive the Fox IT Award for Distinguished Alumni, for his work in the IT field and contributions to the community and industry.

“As innovators, executives and industry leaders, George, Dinesh and Jeff have excelled in a rapidly changing IT landscape,” said Fox School of Business Dean M. Moshe Porat. “In doing so, they carry on a proud and rich tradition of excellence displayed by past Fox IT Award winners, who will serve as models for our students.”

Llado is responsible for leading Alexion’s Global IT function, during a time of rapid expansion and focusing on initiatives that enable Alexion to serve more patients around the world, he and his global team develop and implement enterprise-level business applications and infrastructure, expand ERP implementation, manage information security, deliver new analytics tools, and design and deploy systems. He serves on the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Board and the Temple Fox IT Advisory Board.

Desai earned an MBA from the Fox School in 1978. After graduation, he spent 12 years with American Can and Arco Chemical in various management positions. He went on to become President, CEO, Co-Chairman and an owner of Western Sky Industries and then Chairman and CEO of DARR Global Holdings, Inc., a management consulting firm. Desai has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Enterprise Center, a Nonprofit Organization.

“In a world increasingly dominated by digital business models, the 2015 Fox School IT Award recipients are true role models for MIS students, who are learning digital business innovation and how to lead revenue growth in a digital economy,” said Dr. Munir Mandviwalla, founding Chair of the MIS Department.

Recipients are nominated and selected by a committee chaired by Bruce Fadem (Chair, Fox IT advisory board) and comprised of senior leadership at Fox, the Fox IT Advisory Board, and previous recipients.

The Fox School’s MIS department, ranked No. 1 in the world for research, in the top 15 nationally for undergraduate programs, and in the top 20 for graduate programs, is a worldwide leader in transformative research and teaching in the design, use, and effects of information technology. IBIT integrates industry perspectives with academic research expertise to create forums for generating and exchanging best practices.
