The digital transformation of workforce development summit on March 25, 2022, at Temple University was a major success!
The summit featured Dinesh Desai, Executive Chairman and Founder, Emtec, Inc., Ben-Saba Hasan, SVP, Chief Culture Diversity Equity & Inclusion Officer, Walmart, Inc., Jenn Nyiri, VP, Comcast NBC Universal, Niraj Patel, CIO, Greystone, Mark Spykerman, CIO, AmerisourceBergen, and Jenn Warne, EVP, Chief People Officer, Lincoln Financial Group as keynote panelists. The event was sponsored by Emtec Inc.




Given the change in work, there is now renewed interest in reimagining workforce development, especially the role of on-the-job training, professional development, and the workforce development ecosystem. The event focused on development and engagement, inclusion, measures, best practices, and how employee / employer relationships will get transformed through digitization. The summit focused on digital solutions to develop the workforce and on measuring success.
Provost Gregory Mandel and Dean Ronald Anderson kicked off the event, which was moderated by Leora Eisenstadt, Munir Mandviwalla, and TL Hill.
The Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT), Center for Ethics, Diversity and Workplace Culture (CEDWC), and the Translational Research Center (TRC) organized and hosted the summit.
Agora World and LogixCxt win 2021 Digital Innovation Awards
The Digital Innovation Foundry is pleased to announce that Agora World and LogixCxt are recipients of the inaugural 2021 Digital Innovation Award in partnership with Temple University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (IEI) Innovative Idea Competition.
Each awardee will receive $1,000, mentorship to develop their idea for the Be Your Own Boss Bowl (BYOBB) in Spring 2022, access to the DIF lab, and additional resources to develop their idea. The Digital Innovation Award is open to all Temple University students, alumni, faculty and staff.
Entries were selected by the DIF team based on the following criteria:
- Digital – does the idea apply technology in an interesting and/or novel manner?
- Problem – does the idea solve a real business or societal problem?
- Practical – is the idea practically doable given current technology, context, and resources?
Sondra Barbour, Executive-in-Residence spends the day engaging with students
Sondra Barbour is Executive-in-Residence at the Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT) and was at Temple all day on November 11, 2021 engaging with students.
Barbour is also the inaugural recipient of the Information Technology award for Distinguished Alumni in 2005 and helped start the Executive-in-Residence program. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for AGCO Corporation and Perspecta and was selected by Fortune magazine as one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” in 2014.
Digital Innovation Award
The Digital Innovation Foundry is pleased to announce the new Digital Innovation Award in partnership with Temple University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (IEI) 24th Annual Innovative Idea Competition. - 2 x $1,000 awards
- One award is guaranteed, the second award may be given out to a second highly deserving entry.
- Each awardee will receive:

The award is open to all Temple University students, alumni, faculty and staff.
Criteria
Entries will be judged by experienced digital innovators on the following criteria:
- Digital – does the idea apply technology in an interesting and/or novel manner?
- Problem – does the idea solve a real business or societal problem?
- Practical – is the idea practically doable given current technology, context, and resources?
Requirements
- Each recipient owns their idea following Temple University intellectual property policies, DIF only has a support role.
- Awardees will be expected to present their work in the DIF showcase.
