Andrea Anania

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEADER AWARD

Andrea Anania was named executive vice president and chief information officer of CIGNA Corporation in March 2001. She reports directly to chairman and CEO H. Edward Hanway. In her role as chief information officer, she is responsible for all systems development, data processing and telecommunications functions worldwide for CIGNA, a Fortune 500 company. Her staff consists of 3,000 individuals primarily in four locations across the country. Anania joined CIGNA in 1995 as senior vice president and division systems information officer for CIGNA Retirement and Investment Services. During her tenure she assumed responsibility for the customer support function in addition to her systems responsibility. Previously, she served with UNISYS Corporation for 20 years with assignments in technical support, sales and product management. Prior to leaving UNISYS, Anania was a managing principal with profit and loss responsibility for all service lines for one of four regional areas. She is a member of the Information Technology Board of the United Way and chairperson of the Philadelphia CIGNA March of Dimes Campaign 2001. She serves on the CIO Advisory Board of the Business School of Villanova University. She received a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
